Affiliated scientists are researchers from academic institutions and research centers in Israel and around the world who conduct their research at the Institute during short- or medium-term stays. Although they are not resident scientists, many take part in the Institute’s ongoing scientific activities, collaborate with local research groups, and work closely with resident scientists. Some serve as academic advisors for graduate students (Master’s and Ph.D.) who are based at the Institute as long-term resident students. Affiliated scientists make full use of the Institute’s research infrastructure – including laboratories, research vessels, seawater-based experimental systems, and the scientific diving center. Many also contribute to the Institute’s academic teaching, serving as course coordinators or lecturers in IUI’s interuniversity academic programs. In addition, some Affiliated scientists take an active role in the Institute’s core committees, including the Teaching Committee, the Diving Committee, and others. Their presence broadens the range of scientific expertise at IUI and strengthens the academic and international collaborations that enrich the Institute’s research community.
