Course Brief Description
A 6-day course. The course includes lectures, labs and a research project.
The course focuses on knowing the plankton, especially the taxonomy of the phytoplankton and zooplankton groups in the Gulf of Eilat, and its adaptations to pelagic life. In addition, aspects of plankton ecology (distribution, migration, feeding habits, etc.), the plankton food chain and the plankton-reef relationship will be discussed. The course will introduce methods for sampling plankton, methods for preparing plankton for lab measurements and advanced acoustic methods for zooplankton research. During the course, a short research project is conducted in which are integrated the sampling methods and the identification of the plankton groups learned during the course.
