Course Brief Description
A 10-day course. The course includes lectures, demonstration labs, practical work and research projects.
Major topics covered in the course are physical, biological and chemical oceanography, primary production, marine microbiology, physiology, ecology and biology of corals, ecology and biology of reef fishes.
The grade structure
5 exams to be held during the course. Each exam weighs 10% (total weight of exams 50%).
An evaluation on the work during the course and the research project and a grade for the project presentation (10%).
A final report submitted about a month after the end of the course (40%).
Audience
The course is intended for 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students from all fields of study in natural sciences, exact sciences and applied sciences (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Land of Israel Studies, Geology, Engineering) who are interested to learn about the multi-disciplinary research that is taking place in the Red Sea. The course is limited to 24 students.
Language
The primary language of instruction is Hebrew. Reading of scientific content in English will be required. Some lectures will be given in English.
